Campfire Storytelling With a campfire providing the ambiance, Coloma Resort Guests will travel back in time to hear fascinating true-life accounts from the lives of Native Americans, Mountain Men, or Gold Miners of the Coloma Valley. The hour-long storytelling programs are offered year round with the calming sounds of the South Fork American River in the background. Gold Panning Gold Fever. There may be no ailment as intense or contagious - or fun - as the craving for this lustrous, malleable metal. Beginners and experienced prospectors alike can try their luck at striking it rich in the town where it all began! Our Panning Experts interactively teach the tricks of the trade in salted gold troughs. 45 minute classes are offered for up to 40 participants. Ropes Challenge Course One of Coloma Outdoor Discovery School's skilled facilitators will use challenging and interactive activities on our high element and/or low element Ropes Challenge Course to get your group working together and having fun! Problem solving initiatives structured to facilitate a challenging team building experience enable your group to exercise communication, planning, and teamwork. White Water Rafting Whitewater rafting down the wet and wild South Fork American River makes for a very exciting day! Trips are offered to individuals, families and groups. Our low cost trips are available 6 days a week from May to October. All trips include professional guides, state of the art equipment, a deli style lunch, and round trip shuttle to and from Coloma Resort. Half day and full day trips are available. Both runs are rated class III suitable for rafters of all abilities. Yoga Classes Start your day off relaxed and renewed or book a mid-meeting stretch break with our professional yoga facilitators. Sixty minute classes as well as customized workshops are available. All classes are designed to the ability level of your group. Outdoor classes also available weather permitting. Guided Naturalist Hikes Coloma Resort is surrounded by miles of beautifully maintained hiking trails in Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park.  One of Coloma Resort's resident naturalists will guide your group on an interpretive walk covering topics like plant and animal life, Gold Rush history, Native American history and bird life. Hikes range from one to four hours, and are offered year round.  Consider bringing a catered bag lunch on your adventure. Hot Air Balloon Rides Balloon Rides are the perfect way to experience the breathtaking views of the Coloma Valley from above. Flights can be booked by single passengers, families and groups. Children must be at least 5 years old to fly. After flying, passengers enjoy a traditional champagne toast and French style lunch.
